AQUACULTURED ISOPORA FRAG
Isopora is a very interesting and unique Genus of SPS coral which is believed to be the link between Acropora and Montipora. It’s surface appears as it to be covered in axial corallites, reminiscent of Acropora, which never actually branch upward. This particular colony is purple with bright ultra green polyps.
This piece came to us in 2017, originally collected by Cairns Marine and invoiced as Montipora. At first glance, it’s pretty understandable to see why. It has grown into an encrusting plating shape over the years in Cam’s display. It once even succumbed to RTN but thankfully, we managed to preserve the section which had grown onto the back overflow.
